Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 152
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 152
トニカクカワイイ 152
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
An annoyed Chitose stops by Nasa and Tsukasa’s residence, leading Tsukasa to snap at her for always barging in on them. Chitose delivers Tokiko’s final will to Nasa, as it is addressed to him. Nasa and Tsukasa begin reading, where Tokiko writes prose, typical of her sense of humor.
Tokiko writes, reviewing her work and being satisfied with what she did to help with Tsukasa’s dream. As such, she leaves the care of Tsukasa to Nasa. Further, she leaves a 5D Data Storage Crystal in a pendant for Nasa. Considering the kind of data that could be on the crystal, and the fact that no normal computer will be able to read it, Nasa believes Tokiko is testing him.
Tokiko requests Tsukasa not attend her funeral, but does request Tsukasa and Nasa spread her ashes at a lake near Mt. Fuji. She then requests Nasa stay with Tsukasa forever, and that Tsukasa should bring Nasa happiness. Finally, Tokiko has some last “motherly” requests of Tsukasa, despite being younger than her. But she ends her will, thanking Tsukasa for everything.
Thoughts/Review:
Not going to lie, I get a little emotional whenever I read Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 152. Hata-sensei really knew how to make the comedy elements quite poignant.
Tokiko’s Will
I’m really glad we get to “see” Tokiko once more in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 152. We already know she passed away, and we already know that Nasa, Tsukasa, and Kaguya will carry out her last request. However, I appreciated seeing Tokiko’s words with her image showing up, reflecting the words on page. And that’s where Hata-sensei manages to help make things poignant. Its not just the words we see; its Tokiko.
Still, one can’t deny how much fun Tokiko was as a character. And short of flashbacks like this, we won’t see her again. That aside, it is clear how much she loved Tsukasa like family. And it makes sense, seeing as how she’s lived with Tsukasa most of her life. It is that love that also helps to make the chapter touching and meaningful.
5D Data Storage Crystal
As is typical of Hata-sensei, he introduces new things into his manga that are in fact things that exist in reality. Such is the case with the 5D Data Storage Crystal. This crystal seems to come straight out of science fiction, but it is a reality. Obviously, it is not a common storage device, but it does exist. And I think that’s cool.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 152 manages to be humorous and poignant. As such, I really enjoyed the chapter on both levels.
